| Description: The deceased, for reasons unknown, performed a down wind landing in 15 mph winds. He was unable to run out the extremely fast landing, for obvious reasons. He fell and was thrown back into the air and landed on his neck, breaking it severely. Another jumper on that load was a paramedic and attended to him promptly but to no avail. This was his second jump of the day in the same wind conditions. Low Turns were aboslutely positively NOT part of this incident. | ||||||||
| Lessons:Maybe a PLF would have helped here -- as would have landing in the correct direction. However, who amoung us can say they *never* have accidently landed in the wrong direction, at some point during their jumping careers. Larger, slower canopies can make this mistake less costly. | ||||||||
